Just yards from the Tacklefest extravaganza a different sort of spectacle will be taking place on the River Nene – the Angling Times Team Championships final.
Through snow, frost, wind and rain, 17 teams have battled through their regional divisions and tension-wracked semi finals in the winter to reach the big one, battling it out for the £4,000 first prize and the famous solid silver trophy but perhaps something money can’t buy – the tag of top match team in the country.
You’ll be able to see up close and personal the likes of current world champion William Raison, five times champ Alan Scotthorne and England men Steve Gardener, Des Shipp, Sean Ashby plus reigning youth world champs Callum Dicks and Matt Godfrey, as well as a host of top names including Darren Cox and Mark Downes.
They’ll be put through their paces over four miles of the Nene on the Sunday, doing what they do best and you’ll be able to see it all for free – you may even pick up a few tips along the way!
